National endurance cyclist Adam Alexander will aim to continue his top form on the road this year when the second leg of the 2016 T&T Cycling Federation Road Series pedals off at 7 am, today.
Over 120 cyclists will begin the race from the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba. Cyclists will travel from Ghandi Village to Claxton Bay three times for a total of 113 km. Alexander, who represents Team Foundation, won the first road race of the year on January 10 in a race which took cyclists from the Mucurapo Foreshore to Couva and back.
Consistent Barbadian rider Phillip Clarke was second, while Russel Elcock of Team Drive Phase Sport (DPS) was third.
National junior cyclist Jabari Whiteman (Southclaine) was fourth ahead of Stephen Alexander (Team Foundation), while former national cyclist and current Sport Company of T&T chairman Michael Phillips (Mike’s Bikes) rounded off the top six.
Team DPS won the prime for having the most number of cyclists in the top ten as Elcock, Justin Roberts and Tyler Cole all accomplished the feat.
Cole won the juniors category after placing ninth overall, while Whiteman grabbed the top spot in the juveniles category with his fourth place overall.
