Adrian Sangster topscored with 16 points to help Fatima College wrestle the Under-15 Big Four title away from Queen's Royal College (QRC) in the North Zone of the Secondary Schools Basketball League. Fatima secured a hard fought 39-35 victory in the final at the Jean Pierre Complex in Mucurapo on Friday afternoon.
Sangster got support from Adam Tang-Nian, who scored 12 in the match as their team held a comfortable 19-10 halftime lead.
However, through the effort of Antonio Ambris, who netted a match-high 18, QRC never went away and battled in the second session. In fact, QRC managed to outscore its opponent 25-20 in the second half but the nine-goal deficit at the half proved to be too much to overcome.
Fatima held on to pull off the narrow four-goal win to celebrate its U-15 crown. Later, Belmont Boys and East Mucurapo met in the Boys U-17 Big Six competition and the former emerged with an easy 49-24 victory.
Leading the way for Belmont were duo Israel Daniel and N'Kosi Corbin, who scored 17 and 10, respectively with Tarique Davis adding seven in the win.
Action moves to the International School of Port-of-Spain (ISPS) in Westmoorings tomorrow (Monday) with two matches, starting at 12 noon.
