Central Sports will oppose defending champions Club Crusoe in the first quarter-final of the 2017 UWI T20 cricket tournament at the Sir Frank Worrell grounds in St. Augustine today from 2pm.
In the second clash which starts at 6pm, a star-studded Cane Farm outfit will start as favourites against Munroe Road. Cane Farm with Red Force captain Denesh Ramdin on board, includes Lendl Simmons, Ravi Rampaul and Rayad Emrit. Tomorrow, the quarter-finals continue with 2014 champions Merryboys coming up against Duncan Buggy Haynes (DBH) from 2pm. Four hours later Guyanese outfit Demerara comes up against Police.
Meanwhile, Nicholas Sookdeosingh scored the second century of the UWI T20 tournament, to lead his team Duncan Buggy Haynes to a massive 102-run victory over Moosai Sports in the UWI T20 cricket tournament at the Sir Frank Worrell cricket ground on Sunday.
Sookdeosingh the PowerGen batsman was his usual aggressive self in scoring his century of 55 balls as Moosai Sports had no answer to his onslaught. His effort took his team to a massive 229/1 of 20 overs. Joining in the fun were national players William Perkins, who took only 38 balls in scoring 58 runs and Yannick Ottley 37 not out.
In reply Moosai made only 127/8 in their 20 overs - losing by the biggest margin in this tournament. Uthmsn Mohammed the former Queen’s Park player grabbed 4/25 to lead the rout.
On Saturday night all rounder Navin Stewart showed his wares in taking Tobago’s Club Crusoe to a narrow 2-run win over Munroe Road which gave them leadership of Group C. Stewart the Barbados Tridents player struck 66 of only 27 balls with nine sixes and a four, as his team tallie 185/7 in their 20 overs. Munroe Road in reply gave a spirited reply and reached 183/9 with first match centurion Akeem Alvarez scoring 48. Stewart returned with the ball to take 2/39.
