Tewafeedj definitely has the beating of six rivals in an ‘aged’ Maiden Stakes over twelve furlongs of Newcastle tapeta tonight; just a question of this twice-raced Mawatheeq gelding reproducing his debut effort over nine furlongs of Redcar which is similar to Gosforth Park, apart from a stiff uphill climb at the latter track.
Of course a ‘first-up’ effort on turf contrasts sharply to the AWR surface Tewafeedj is set to encounter but trainer Kevin Ryan is an experienced, sensible, judge and wont be fazed about his charge tackling an extra three furlongs.
