Soca Warriors coach Dennis Lawrence has included uncapped former national youth striker Jerrel Britto in a 24-man squad which returns to the training field tomorrow for preparations ahead of Saturday’s international friendly with Grenada in St George’s.

The game will serve as part of the Soca Warriors’ build-up programme for the two 2018 World Cup qualifiers away to the USA on June 8 in Denver, Colorado and five days later in San Jose, to meet Costa Rica.

In addition to the Honduras-based former San Juan Jabloteh, W Connection and Ma Pau Stars striker Britto, Mexico-based defender Yohance Marshall, Shahdon Winchester and Jomal Williams; Central FC duo, Marcus Joseph and Keston George, W Connection’s Kevon Goddard, Taryk Sampson of Ma Pau Stars and Club Sando’s Jarad London will all have the chance to impress Lawrence for the first time since his appointment.

Former Asian-based defender Seon Power now at Central FC and was part of the training squad prior to the World Cup qualifiers against Panama and Mexico is also in the training squad along with Jabloteh’s Nathan Lewis who missed the Barbados friendly due to club commitments in the Caribbean Football Union Club Championship.

The others who have featured and included are experienced goalkeeping duo, Marvin Phillip (Pt Fortin Civic Centre) and Jan-Michael Williams (Ma Pau Stars), Curtis Gonzales (Defence Force), Triston Hodge (W Connection), Alvin Jones (W Connection), Carlos Edwards (Ma Pau Stars), Leston Paul (Ma Pau Stars), Hughton Hector (W Connection), Hashim Arcia (Defence Force), Keron Cummings (Central FC), Akeem Roach (Club Sando), and Jamille Boatswain (Defence Force).

“This international game will be useful in terms of it being part of the preparations for our squad ahead of the next set of World Cup qualifiers in June,” Lawrence said.

“It’s a good opportunity for myself and the coaching staff to have a further look at the players who are on the fringe of World Cup team selection, also including those who were involved in the past two qualifying matches.”

Tomorrow’s opening training session takes place at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva.
