Naparima College will come up against Hillview College in the final of the PowerGen Secondary Schools Intercol series at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Couva from 6.30pm, this evening.

Both teams have been playing great cricket this season and will be looking to take the crown when they square up in the 20-over encounter under lights. Naparima College with an easy passage into the finals, having dominated all before them will start as favourites in this clash. They have in their ranks the promising West Indies Under-19 batsmen Cephas Cooper and the hard hitting Clevon Kalawan.

Hillview will have other ideas and coach Richard Kelly has worked tirelessly this season in instilling a winning attitude. So much so that they took the league crown.

President of the SSCL, Surujdath Mahabir said he was happy with the standard of play in the tournament thus far and is looking towards a bumper final. “Firstly I want to congratulate both teams for reaching the finals. It would have taken a great effort from the players and their management staff to reach this far. I would also like to say well done to the teaching staff of both schools, as they would have played a role as well.

“We are looking towards a great finals and a good crowd at the NCC, as both these schools have a good following.”

This match is however going to clash with the final of the TTCB T20 tournament. It is understood that the Secondary Schools would have moved their date to next week but then it would have clashed with the opening of the Brian Lara Stadium in Touruba. As a result both finals will be played today, with the TTCB T20 taking place at the Brian Lara Stadium.
