Shine Likeadiamond will again be ridden by ‘fortysomething’ Franny Norton today, when attempting to gain reward for consistency in the Maiden Auction Stakes over five furlongs on a ‘good’ Beverley surface; this Atlantic Sport filly, owned by trainer Mick Channon, certainly gave readers a scare five days ago!
Ridden by the ‘scouser’ for the first time, Shine Likeadiamond pestered our nap, Spike, in the closing stages; we were relieved to see the finishing line, where a neck separated the principals with fast-finishing Richard Fahey-trained newcomer, Dacoity, three-quarters of a length away in third. Don’t miss that one, next time!
That form has a solid look, truly run throughout and what beats Shine Likeadiamond, racing for the seventh time, will win; obvious danger is once-raced Bahamian Bird, trained by Fahey!
Bahamian Bird was beaten only a half length in a similar race at Redcar a fortnight ago and can’t be discounted; perhaps a wide draw will prove a minus because wide is usually a negative. You can’t beat the draw and you can’t beat experience; both are likely to be ‘on the line’ this afternoon when running in tandem will be another eight-race programme on Lingfield polytrack. Later, on a similar surface Kempton also has eight, the first four being two-year-old races!
Recently, thanks to a punt on 12/1 winning nap, Mayfair Lady, at York we ‘invested’ in a 50” TV and it’s absolutely incredible for sport, especially horse-racing; ‘winnings’ must never be given back to bookies, take note!
In the olden days ‘professionals’ would go out and buy several suits following a decent ‘touch’ at a time when sartorial elegance was admired and respected; unfortunately standards have not been maintained on racecourses.
Yosemite is expected to recoup debut losses in the Maiden Auction Stakes over six furlongs under floodlights, mount of Jamie Spencer, trained by Richard Fahey!
How many horses does this indomitable ‘winning machine’ oversee?
It’s all about delegation but RH is a ‘workaholic’ and hard work never hurt anyone!
At ‘Lingers’ it certainly wont be a surprise if Just Glamorous causes one in the ten-runner nursery over five furlongs; anything ridden by all-weather champion jockey, Luke Morris, justifies close inspection and this consistent, hitherto luckless Arcano colt is ready to win.
