Hopes are very ‘High!’

Midhmaar is expected to reward our patience in a three-year-old handicap over a mile good to soft Sandown this afternoon. Remember his last effort 209 days ago?

Readers were left in no doubt Midhmaar was reckoned nigh on a cert for a Ripon nursery but the ride given left a lot to be desired. This Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned Iffraaj gelding finished second to Move Up, beaten just over two lengths but should have won easily.

As a consequence we’ve waited all this time to recoup losses or at least those winnings that got away. Earlier this week yours truly was asked to assess the chances of Midhmaar and I’m satisfied he’ll score under a different  jockey, Andrea Atzeni.

Hamdan’s first colours will be worn by Dane O’Neill aboard twice-raced, recent winner, Abareeq, and Paul Hanagan partners Ebtihaal, for Godolphin! Strange bookings but AA is the best!

Two divisions of a Maiden Fillies’ Stakes over ten furlongs looked appealing and sure enough once-raced, well-regarded, High Hopes surfaced as a special in the second leg. We respect trainer, David Simcock, and jockey, Jamie Spencer.

Cancan Katy is one of seventeen declarations for an aged Maiden Fillies’ Stakes over six furlongs. Find one to beat Tom Dascombe’s charge and you’ll back a decent-priced winner.

Twice-raced Cancan Katy hasn’t raced since improving for experience in a similar race at Haydock, 231 days ago!

A plus is the stable form and Dascombe places shrewdly. It’s an outstanding opportunity for this Canford Cliffs filly and, incidentally, we HAVE combed the others and can’t find the semblance  of a danger to Franny Norton’s mount.

SELECTIONS
10.20 MIDHMAAR
12.35 HIGH HOPES (nap)
11.45 CANCAN KATY.
