The prime minister of the world’s biggest democracy, Narendra Modi, in his recent radio monthly ‘Heart-to-Heart-Talk’ with the people of India batted for improving India’s ranking in games. He lamented that a mass game like football, India has abyssal low ranking at the world level. He went on to elaborate, “65% of our population is young but we have slipped away in sports.” With Rio Olympics round the corner, the concern of the prime minister is a well-timed stroke.
The Govt. of India under the dynamic leadership of Narendra Modi and his team of dedicated ministers are leaving no stone unturned to lead the country on road to progress.
The efficient Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, suave Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister, rooted to the ground Venkiah Naidu, innovative technology-oriented Ravi Shanker Prasad, scientific-minded ENT surgeon Dr. Harsh Vardhan and medically trained but culturally committed Dr. Mahesh Sharma have made a monumental contribution to the country’s progress during their less than two years in office.
It speaks volumes of a Prime Minister’s vision of holistic development of the country. His precise planning in the grey areas has paid rich dividends. The axiom—Minimum Government, Maximum Governance was the starting point of the prime minister Narendra Modi’s government.
Adhering to this adage, the prime minister has in his team 23 Cabinet Ministers and 23 Ministers of State, compared to 71 ministers in the outgoing union cabinet.
A step further, the ministers do not use official vehicle for private purposes. This is going to save large amount of tax payer’s money and control corruption at the highest level.
Prime Minister’s foreign visits have brought rich dividends to India. Consequently Japan is going to invest 3.5 Billion (US$) during next five year period. The two major gains for India during Modi’s Japan visit was the willingness of the Japanese manufacturers to participate in the PM’s ‘Make in India’ programme and help in building fast-running bullet trains in India.
To augment the power needs of the country, India signed a Nuclear Power deal with Australia for the supply of 500 tonnes of Uranium to take care of the power woes of the country.
The foreign companies are finding conducive environment to boost their business interests in India. Consequently top executives from Microsoft, Pepsico, Facebook and Amazon have visited India to discuss further developments of their respective firms and contribute to the development of India in their respective sectors.
At Modi’s initiative the multinational companies like Airbus will collaborate with the Tata to manufacture fighter jets and defence transport aircrafts.
To give boost to defence needs submarines will be manufactured in India. It will enhance the employment scenario and make India a pioneer in the manufacturing sector thus boosting country’s economy by earning valuable foreign exchange.
The amended labour laws will provide ideal environment for multinational companies to work in India without facing labour problems.
To provide relief to the economically weaker section of the society a comprehensive financial assistance programme known as Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana has been launched on massive scale. The scheme has created bank accounts with Rupees 5,000 overdraft facility, a debit card and an insurance cover of Rs.1 lakh. The scheme triggered opening of 1.5 crores bank accounts on the first day itself. India has 35% population with a bank account, lowest among the BRICS, as compared to 87% of the US and 95% of Canada.
National Judicial Appointments Commission is going to strengthen judicial system—an important pillar of democracy, leading to efficient working at the High Court and the Supreme Court level. The clean environment conscious prime minister has launched a massive programme to build toilets throughout the country to make townships and countryside more clean and hygienic.
With these developmental projects in the pipeline the country is on the brink of embarking on the holistic progress in near future. But aided and abetted on large scale by the agencies, both internal and external there is negative propaganda on various fronts against the govt. However, with positive aims and intents, the tide will turn in India’s favour.
