Scott Hackshaw and Katheryne Campos both defeated defending champions on their way to singles titles in the RBC Junior Tennis tournament at the Trinidad Country Club in Maraval, yesterday.
Hackshaw was the underdog going into the final, but got past defending boys Under-18 singles champion Nabeel Mohammed 6-4, 6-4 to win the crown.
Campos was not expected to come away with a title against Emma-Rose Trestrail, who won the girls U-18 singles crown last year. Trestrail seemed to be heading for an easy victory after winning the opening set 6-1. However, Campos fought back to win the next two sets 6-3, 10-8.
In another hard fought final, Charlotte Ready defeated Cameron Wong 4-2, 2-4, 10-7 to seal the girls U-10 singles title.
