Hidden Treasures at Southwell today and punters will be scouring for a prize haul in the seven-runner Maiden Fillies’ Stakes over a mile of fibresand; Richard Fahey has found a ‘beaut’ opportunity for this twice-raced Zoffany juvenile.
Sixth on debut, over six furlongs of Wolverhampton Tapeta, to subsequently beaten Prisom, didn’t set pulses racing; but it was a different tale a fortnight later on Chelmsford polytrack when Hidden Treasures, a 14/1 chance, improved at least 10lbs on the time-handicap, under stable apprentice, Jack Garrity, finishing strongly into second behind Quality Road.
Two lengths separated the principals, others were well beaten off and Hidden Treasures achieved a TH mark that wins this-type race nine times out of ten.
Of course Hidden Treasures will need to act on the ‘deep stuff’ but you can bet Richard has worked her on this unique Nottinghamshire circuit; he leaves no stone unturned and is the trainer to follow for earnest punters.
Richard also journeys recent Wolves winner Lydiate for the nursery over five furlongs but it’s too competitive; more appealing is Tesoro attempting to make it fifth time lucky in the Maiden Stakes over five furlongs of Tapeta tonight.
Significantly Dean Ivory’s charge achieved a ‘career-best’ last time out, 29 days ago; no ‘cert’ by any means but Tesoro looks guaranteed one of three places in our each-way patent, which also includes Jo Hughes-trained Daybreak Lady in the Maiden Auction Stakes over seven furlongs, on the back of a promising course and distance debut effort.
